How to choose a CMS?

Today there are dozens of different Content Management Systems (CMS) on the market. Since years, we have successfully done websites with Typo3 CMS. It's mature and being used by a lot of people, corporations and organizations.
(There probably are other CMS which seem to be easier in setup and administration, but often at the expense of limited functionality or flexibility.)

Typo3 CMS

Developement of Typo3 was started in 1998 by danish citizen Kasper Skårhøj. In the meantime, it has evolved into one of the most powerful CMS avaliable, exceeding 100.000 official installations by far. While no licence fees are charged for Typo3 as it is distributed unter the terms of the GNU GPL (General Public Licence), it's functionality is on par with some rather high priced "enterprise" CMS.

The integrated Rich Text Editor (RTE) allows for easily entering your texts, similarly as with a word processor program. RTE is usable with current Internet Explorer and Mozilla (Firefox) webbrowsers.

Content may get assigned a release date, allowing for news being properly prepared. And with different backend user accounts you enable your editorial staff to delegate responsibilities for e.g. contents of certain pages and/or maintaining (parts of) the structure of your website.
